One-thumb elevator arcade action
You are the mechanic. Ride the car top through a living hoistway, drag to steer, let your tools fire on their own, and keep one eye on the counterweight at all times. It does not beep. It does not flash. It just arrives. Touch it once and the run is over.

A shift in five steps
One thumb to steer. One touch that ends the run.
No elevator experience required. The trade will teach you.
Drag to steer
The car drifts toward your finger with real weight. Your thumb is the only control.
Tools auto-fire
Wrenches, sheaves and heavier gear fire on their own. Your hands stay free for not dying.
Chain combos
String kills together to multiply your wages. Grazes pay too, if you have the nerve.
Hit E-STOP
Panic-clear the shaft when it gets crowded. You only get so many per run.
Climb and cash out
Stack floors, fight bosses, bank a paycheck. The counterweight decides when the shift ends.
Inside the hoistway
The current build, straight from the stores.
A hand-drawn dimetric hoistway with real depth: rails, ropes, brackets, machine beams and a counterweight that lives on its own rail.

Why it is called that
The elevator won't kill you. The counterweight will.
The counterweight is a real piece of elevator equipment: a steel frame full of cast iron plates that rides its own rails opposite the car. In the trade it is famous because it moves silently, in the dark, in the opposite direction of the car you are standing on.
In the game it is the one-touch killer on every difficulty. It never beeps and never flashes. The only warning is silence. Keep the car moving and never stop watching it.
Clock in your way
Eight job types. Pick your poison.
Survive, climb, get paid. The baseline run with scaling difficulty.
A full day's work against the clock. Clock out at zero to earn your Full Shift cert.
Management, back to back. No warmup.
Hunt specific faults for bonus pay: selector tapes, door ops, governors, interlocks, contactors.
Learn the ropes. The gentle first run for new players.
Lights out. You get a flashlight cone and your nerves.
The wage multiplier ramps every thirty seconds. So does everything else.
Accelerated difficulty for the people who already mastered the others.
Ten bosses on the job
Hard hats and cheap suits.
Every one of them thinks they run the building. Spoiler: the counterweight runs the building.
The Draft
Build your run mid-shift.
Every 75 floors a PERK READY light comes on. The shaft keeps moving until you choose. Ten stackable perks, no two runs alike.
Built for the trade
Made by an elevator constructor
Silent Killer: Hoistway Havoc was made by Joshua Worth, an elevator constructor. Every hazard, every tool, every boss and every death quote comes out of a mechanic's worst day on the job. If you have ever set foot in a hoistway you will laugh at every joke. If you have not, you will still be sweating by floor three.
Your crew
Clock in as The Rookie, the balanced standard rig, or unlock The Old-Timer, who starts with the Sheave and rides a heavier car; The Apprentice, fragile but paid 25% more; and The Foreman, who clocks in with four E-STOPs. Fifteen certifications track mastery across every job type and the trade-craft goals in between.
On your wrist
Version 2.10.0 adds Hoistway Havoc for Apple Watch, a companion game built for the small screen with its own haptics. It installs with the iPhone app.
Original soundtrack
The three tracks are Joshua Worth's own compositions, written for the game. Haptics, an all-ages tone, and a hoistway drawn with real depth round out the current build.
Free on iOS and Android
The game is free to play and supported by ads, with an optional watch-an-ad continue after a run ends. No accounts, no sign-up. Made for the trade, played by the mechanics who live it.

No. Drag to steer, your tools fire on their own, and Apprentice Training teaches the rest. If you have worked in a hoistway the jokes land harder, but anyone can play.
What is the counterweight and why does it end the run?
In a real traction elevator the counterweight is a steel frame of cast-iron plates that rides its own rails opposite the car. Mechanics call it the silent killer because it moves quietly in the dark toward you. In the game it is the one-touch killer on every difficulty.
Is it suitable for kids?
It is an all-ages arcade game rated 9+ on the App Store and Everyone on Google Play. No blood, no gore, cartoon hazards and trade humor.
